The pandemic-induced tech hiring spree of 2020 and 2021 has long faded, replaced by widespread uncertainty.
Our Talent Trends report revealed that 37% of tech companies struggled to find talent in the last 12 months, with 33% of those citing a lack of appropriate skills as the main challenge. This, combined with the high volume of candidates, has led to lengthened hiring timelines for open tech roles.

In 2021, the average salary for professionals in tech reached record highs at nearly $105,000. Tech positions thrived in the era of remote work and stay-at-home policies, as organizations sought to meet the growing demand for online shopping and services. Employers offered top dollar to attract top tech talent.
In 2025, however, the landscape looks slightly different. The supply of tech candidates has outpaced demand, slowing salary growth. When the need for professionals picks up again, we expect increases in tech salaries to follow. Those with specialized skill sets, like AI, cybersecurity, and data analysis, will have their pick of the most appealing job offers.
